Latina recording artist and actress Sol Romero recently released her new single, “Te Quire Asi,” with Pablo Montero. Written by Juan Carlos Calderón, the song was produced by Humberto Gatica.
Of Mexican and Swiss descent, Sol started singing when she was 13. After her family moved to San Miguel de Allende, she unexpectedly appeared on the set of Robert Rodriguez’s Once Upon a Time in Mexico, where she ended up working on the film as Eva Mendez’s camera double.
Following her appearance in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sol studied acting at the world-famous RADA Academy in London.
Sol arrived on the music scene in 2011, when she released her debut single/video, “BiPolar Love,” from her debut album, Dark Fantasy. In 2015, she dropped “Turn It Up,” followed by “Money Makes the World Go Round” with rapper French Montana. Her long player, Turn It Up, was released in 2016.
Multi-talented, Sol’s acting credits include roles in Casino Royale, with Daniel Craig, The Legend of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas, Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson, and most recently Memory, featuring Liam Neeson.
Sol splits her time between Los Angeles and Switzerland with her husband of 16 years, director Martin Campbell, known for his work on the ‘Zorro’ and ‘James Bond’ films, as well as Green Lantern and The Foreigner.
“Te Quire Asi” (I love you so) opens on soft, shimmering orchestral tones, followed by Montero’s evocative, quixotic voice. When Sol’s dazzling, silky tones enter, the tune takes on delicious, poignant savors, imbuing the lyrics with opulent timbres. The two voices harmonize, filling the song with passionate sonic surfaces, tender, and adoring.
The lyrics convey the concept of loving another as they are, without compelling them to change.
